Almost twenty years ago, I had an idea for a project. I wanted to publish a magazine about the established artists I knew. More specifically, I wanted to capture the conversations that we had. The emphasis wouldn’t be so much on the work but instead the process of making art. However, for lack of: time; funds; storage space; technical know how; experience; scalability and/or network of contacts the project didn’t happen. Time has certainly changed all of that; the most significant change being the Internet and the “open source movement.” There is a new spirit of collaboration that makes my vision timely. Niche publications and low production cost are now the future of publishing. I am a Visual Artist publicly and have been consistently exhibiting work since 1984. I am mostly a Los Angeles artist wanting to do my own work wherever it may be welcomed. While continuing to search for my artistic voice I worked as an Illustrator, Designer, Art Director, Production and Creative Manager. Through the last twelve years I have spent in publishing, I have learned not only about content management, but the technical aspects of putting together print and online publications. I have worked with more than forty publications throughout the course of my career. I am fortunate to say that I’ve worked on daily, weekly, monthly and annual publications with large, small and no staff. This experience has given me a realistic expectation of what is possible.

Atelier Visit, for now, is only a two-year project in the form of an online magazine with January 01, 2010 as the planned soft launch date. Since there aren’t enough funds for a launch party or a full marketing campaign, the promotion and marketing of Atelier Visit will begin with social media and RSS feeds. As opportunities make themselves available, promotion will be made.

Atelier Visit is an investigation of the creative process as our contemporary art makers practice it. The project’s objective is to document the creative process by interviewing, broadcasting and archiving video interviews of artists in their creative spaces. Video, written work, and photography will make the core of Atelier Visit’s content. It will be available at no cost online over the next 24 months with a planned annual print edition. This project is a labor of love so I do not expect to make any money. I do, however, hope that funds from online advertising will help offset equipment and print costs.

Collaborators will include Visual Artists, Writers, Editors, Filmmakers, Poets, and Musicians.

In the spirit of collaboration the interviews will be in the artist’s native language. Translations will be made available when they are possible.

Lionel Pratt quant à lui nous présente ses dernières œuvres, plus dépouillées, qui imposent leur immédiateté tout en gardant la légèreté de l’enfance.
Cette exposition nous dévoile un moment clé d’un parcours qui se veut prometteur.

Invitée pour une carte blanche à la Galerie DMA, l’association sans titre, 2006 propose une exposition croisée de Maxime Bondu et Nina De Angelis.

Au cours de dix jours de résidence dans la ville de Rennes, les deux artistes construisent une installation inédite, pensée spécifiquement pour la Galerie DMA : ils se saisissent d’objets, d’images et d’histoires dans un processus toujours mouvant d’appropriation, d’interprétation et de détournement.

« Nous avons décidé de nous intéresser à cette notion de left behind, c’est à dire ce qui a été laissé pour compte, derrière soi, négligé, ce à quoi nous n’avons pas fait attention. Nous nous concentrons sur ces moments et ces lieux où le laissé-pour-compte devient matière. La récupération comme base, comme procédé, voire comme discipline… Not-really-ready-made mais pas si loin, dans le sens où tout est là et c’est juste un regard attentionné et intentionné, presque inquisiteur qui donnera la piste ou la forme à suivre. Appelons cela « le souci du détail généralisé ».

Partant de l’espace de la galerie, nous cherchons à prendre, à trouver ce qui a été abandonné.

De l’extérieur à l’intérieur de l’espace – qui devient dès lors matière à sculpter dans le sens où l’on se préoccupe de ses pleins et de ses creux –, nous récupérons pour construire / déconstruire et affabuler de nos mains, arranger la réalité à nos manières, deux manières différentes d’ailleurs

L’un travaille comme un archéologue, à la fois chercheur, historien, découvreur et conteur. Pour l’autre, ce sont des morceaux délaissés dans les rues qui seront la matière à composition et à réflexion. De la même façon que la taille dans la sculpture matérialise un creux, ces objets ou planches signifient le vide qu’ils ont laissé quelque part.
Que se cache-t-il autour des choses ?
Que peut-on faire avec ce qui existe puisque tout est là, du moins une bonne partie… »

Maryvonne Cossec (mosaïste), El Ghaït Yara (calligraphe), Arlette Lebrun (peintre) et Josselin Gesrel (photographe) y présenteront une sélection d’oeuvre conçues autour d’une libre interprétation du “Bleu Outremer”.

Situé 89 Quai de la fosse, à proximité du Maillé Brézé, l’espace culturel Louis Delgrès est un magnifique lieu d’exposition et de rencontres culturelles. Géré par l’association Mémoire de l’Outre Mer pour “Faire œuvre de mémoire par rapport au drame passé de l’esclavage, promouvoir les cultures de l’Outremer et la diversité”, le lieu est un centre de ressources documentaire qui accueille des expositions tout au long de l’année.

L’exposition “Bleu Outermer” constituera l’exposition inaugurale de la saison 2010 de l’espace Culturel Louis Delgrès.

This project has been created to ensure artists from around the world to cooperate, for the first time in history, to the realization of a great performance. The will of the artists of collaboration and communicating with the city, of incorporating all the forms of Art in a single performance, and the desire to wipe out the monotony of the urban life have developed the idea of the city as a living art in all its forms and the citizens not as just a simple audience.The invasion of Our Lady ART, on the March 30 2009, has seen 21 cities of Italy to dive into a thrilling adventure, having fun and celebrating the pure culture. Now Our Lady ART restarts and raises its game, making it more complicated. All the forms of art will encroach in a synchronized way between themselves and the cities, cities that are increasing day by day, and are not only Italian: the artists will work together as a real team.
Anyone who wish to enjoy the project have to follow the rules in order to avoid problems of legal nature: he should not produce works on condominium structures, unless he has had a written permission by the condominium itself.
The matter is that we must not endanger passers with our works… in short, we must not be attacked by the law … we must “walk on the razor’s edge” … anyone who will not comply with these rules will take charge of his work, and he will not be considered an artist of the project “Invasion of Our Lady ART: reloaded.”
Our mission is to invade the city to defend it from the decadence and we do it because of the lack of free spaces where share our art.
This installation exists to share the Art with everybody, because the culture is for everyone and not for the few. This invasion will be with all the arts: painting, music, sculpture, theatre, dance and poetry. The arts will be united in all its forms to create a great work, and the city will participate in the performance with an active rule, not only as a user.

After you have enjoyed the group, you can find below the contact-coordinator of your town, who will explain what is the topic of the performance and how to proceed.
The art does not soil, doesn’t hurt, doesn’t replace, doesn’t pollute, doesn’t offend: the art is a gift, loved or contested. Art is life.
Despite the usual places of exposure rather archaic and canonical … the world goes on … than we change the conception of an art exhibition.

Organization:
In every city you must create a collective with a coordinator, who will be in charge of it, about the feasibility of the installation and about the identifying of the urban areas to invade…
There will be necessaire to have a member responsible for the public relations with the press, and will care to publicize the event with photos and video on the Media.

The invasion of our lady ART: reloaded will happen in March.
The project may attend all the art forms…we have to know that our creations can be destroyed or stolen…is the performance itself that is the work, with its installation around the globe (date and time to be determined ).
Some days before the performance, from every city, we shall leave a press release to the press and the other medias, with whom decide how to realese the news. The statement will clarify the reasons, the artists and those who worked on the project, show the streets of our installations, and than, the cities will become big galleries of contemporary art.
It is important to structure the group with 2 or 3 coordinators, for the press, and the video cameras.
Each city will create iits own video, and the national coordinator will create the video that contains videos of the whole performances.

P.A. Who participates in the invasion of Our Lady Art is not a fool but an artist, we do not throw balls from the stairs, we non-colored fountains, we do not blur property of others, we do not damage anything, not stain, do not put in danger, we create and give to everyone, even those who do not have time to visit a gallery, access to art in everyday life. They will experience art while doing the shopping, while going to work, while bringing kids to school … we are helping the city to live better through coloring and embellishing it, making it less monotonous and more enjoyable … art is life, life is art.
